How this draft works

This site is a first draft for Kelvin, Rachel and David to read. It is meant to start a conversation, and not to launch anything. Search engines are asked to stay away from it.

What the labels mean

Placeholder means usable draft text that no one has approved yet. Suggestion means an idea to consider, and is not meant as final wording. Approved appears only when a named person has approved a block, and then shows their name and the date.

Nothing on this site is approved yet. Open the sources under a block to see where its facts came from. A box marked "For review" holds a question or a flag for a reader.

Editing the text

The text is kept in one Google Sheet in the Trows-Music folder on Google Drive, with one row for each block, grouped by page. Text is edited in the Sheet and not on the site. The Sheet is shared only with people who have access to that folder; ask David for access. Changes in the Sheet reach the site when it is next rebuilt from the Sheet, which is still done by hand.

How approval works

A named person approves a row by filling in two columns in the Sheet: who approved it, and the date. Once the site is rebuilt from the Sheet, that block shows the approver and date in place of the Placeholder label. Rebuilding from the Sheet is not set up yet.

Wording that Kelvin, Rachel or David edit is used as they write it. Agent-drafted text stays labelled until a person has approved it.

What is left out on purpose

There are no AI-generated images. The photographs are real. The one exception is the logo, a simple vector mark drawn in code by Claude (the AI assistant building this draft) to David's brief. Facts that could not be checked sit in the review notes and not in the text.

Private details are not used: no ages, no names of family members, no phone numbers, and no street address for Kelvin's studio. Nothing is taken from LinkedIn. Other people share these names, so only facts tied to the right person were kept.

More to look at

The logo draft shows the mark and the lettering. The credits page lists every photograph and scan with its licence.

Open questions for Kelvin

1. Boyd's session: how should the Scottish session at Boyd's, and your part in it, be described?

2. Social pages: which Facebook and Instagram pages should be linked? kelvinscottviolins is linked now. kelvinwmscott and ksviolins also appear, and it is not known which are yours.

3. Background: may this page say where you were born, and mention your family's connection to North Ronaldsay? May the connection with the violin maker Colin Tulloch be mentioned?

4. Playing: do you say violin or fiddle? Which tunes do you play in The Trows? Do you play in public with the group?

5. Your website: its security certificate appeared to be expired on 2026-10-15. This is for your information.

6. Awards: your About page dates the Hors Concours designation to 2012 and the Awards page to 2014. Which is right, or should no year be given?

7. Shop and tuition: should the shop be linked from here, and should tuition or apprenticeships be mentioned?

8. Photograph: who took the workshop portrait, and may it be used?

Open questions for Rachel

1. The Bloody Tinth: are you still playing with the band, which is based in Cincinnati? Is The Trows now your main band in Knoxville?

2. Bow making: what would you like said, if anything? Is it learning, an apprenticeship or your own workshop, and is there a name or page to link?

3. Roles and work: is there anything about teaching or other work you would like named? The default here is nothing.

4. Band history: the band's own site says it began with you and your brother. May this page mention that?

5. Links: which should appear? The band's site, Instagram and Spotify are on the Links page. Your own Instagram (hotschottviolinist) is offered as a suggestion. Are rachelschott.com and rachelschott.site yours?

6. Photographs: who took the two stage photographs, and what were the festival and the year?

7. Repertoire: which Scottish, American and Celtic tunes do you most like to play?

8. Knoxville: may this page say you are based in Knoxville?
